Which is bet for Heavy Metal? POD, JStation, Behringer or..?

Hello!!

I hope that anyone of you can help me here.
I'm looking for a homerecordingpreamp such as Pod (or POD II or XT) or J-Station or Behringer etc.

The main purpose will be to use it for recording Heavy Metal rhythm and leadstuff for preproduction for our (CRYONIC TEMPLEs) next album.

Which do you think is the best homerecordingpreamp????

Thanks in advance !

My experience is with POD Pro. Sounds amazing direct to PC and has some of the heaviest tones I've ever gotten. Line 6 Insane model is just that...insane.

24 bit digital out, selectable sample rates, midi clock....it's got it all.

Shameless plug...Mine's for sale.

I'm trying to shy away from digital (and having a hard time doing it)
and I wasn't very happy with tube heads and combos because you
get what you get and THATS it! Meaning, if you want different tones, you
have to get a different head, and switcher..bla bla bla.

Anywho, in my quest for tone I picked up the Rocktron Piranah thinking
it might be a tube version of my Chameleon which I love...but is obviously
transister sounding.

Boy was I wrong.

Where the Cameleon is bright and cuts through, and very harmonically
rich, the Piranha is dark and deep and can go from harmonically rich
to harmonically barren.

I'm very impressed with the Piranha, my girlfriend says it makes me sound
"Very Metal" which is something she was missing in my playing. The
Chameleon was very "happy and bright", ranging from a Satch to Vai
to (Intert Hair Metal Band Here) sound.

If your on the cheap, and you can get a good power amp, I really
highly recommend you check out the Piranha!

Sansamp PSA-1........

Ive head-to-head'ed it against the Pod pro and and it CLEARLY came out on top. They are selling for around 300$ on Ebay which is quite a steal. IT and a good FX processor and you'll be laughing

I agree, the PSA-1 rocks. But it's not the same as the small "all in one" modelers...

I use a V-amp2 and I love it. The heavy sounds awsome. I haven't tried any of the other pod's but I'm sure you'd be happy with the V-amp2.

In my experience, I found the Behringer V-Amp to be WAY more suited for the tones you're looking for.

The old Mesa Studio Preamp is also very nice. Not all the bells & whistles in the world, but good for rock/metal stuff. Check one out if you can, they shouldn't cost too much nowadays either.

Behringer did the same for my V-Amp. In fact, they also sent me a chip for the footpedal which i don't even OWN (nor did I mention). I WAS considering getting one, and I just bought a used one from a Jemsiter... ;-)
