who uses boss tuners?
I decided I need a tuner (damn edge!). what's your experience with boss tuners? i have been considering the tu12 or tu12h. How accurate are these? does the needle move fast?

korg DT7.. only about 10 bucks more than the tu12, and has the same brain as the korg rackmount stuff.

sam ash
and all them have it for the same price).

i have the tu-12 and it is damn accurate. i also have the
korg dtr
-2 and its just as accurate w/ a better display. both are great, but normally, i use the tuner on my line6 pedalboard. just as accurate as the boss, but the tracking on the korg and boss beat the line6 by just a hair.

I've been using a Korg DTR-1 in my rack live, and have a Boss TU-12H for a bench tuner. Both are great. For my backup pedalboard setup I've got the Boss TU-2 Pedal Tuner. Equally great, and VERY visible (with true-bypass too!).

wow i looked at the pedal tuner too. it's really just as accurate? i kind of trust the needles more, but if you say so, i'll give it a try (i think you've been thru SOME gear lol). thanks
(true bypass is good news, i won't touch a pedal that doesn't have it)

I have a variety of Boss Tuners. The TU-12 has been "Old Faithful" for myself and many others. However, Korg makes some great stuff and there are newer items. You may have seen the DT7 (mentioned above) from it's ads featuring Satriani and it will also do BF tunings. The OT12 is another great way to go. If you are familiar with the TU-12 then, the Korg OT12 is an option worth looking in to-especially if you're like me and many others and prefer physical needle displays.
(If you're thinking rack)The DTR1 and DTR2 were discontinued this summer and replaced by DTR-1000's and 2000's. Flip the first numbers around though, the 2000 replaces the 1 and the 1000 replace the 2. It makes more sense the the higher number will now be the higher-priced version with more features. the new DTR1000 also has that easier to read LED note display that the DTR1 had and DTR2 didn't (DTR1000 has it too).
I also bought a Korg CA30 to better fit in my slim, front pouch of my Ibanez gig-bag. It's about the thickness of about 7 credit cards but it works great!

I've had a TU-2 Pedal Tuner on my pedalboard for a few years now and never had a problem with it. I sometimes use it as an instant kill switch between songs on stage. When you switch into tuning mode, the signal to your amp is cut-off.
It's pretty versatile in that you can tune in normal "center the needle" mode or if you're used to strobe tuners, it has a simulated strobe mode where the lights "circle the dial".

My brother, a hardened bass playing gigging veteran (2 nights a week at least for the better part of a year) gave me one of those Boss tuning pedlas as a gift when I started gigging out. Previously I was using one of the cheap Korg ones and had it taped to the top of my amp. The Boss is a great stage tuner; it's accurate, it picks up notes faster than any other I've seen, it has a few different modes to it, has outputs to kill the signal when in use or not and is built like a
Boss pedal
....like a tank.
A rack may be more accurate but if you've already got stuff on the floor and can easily incorporate it I'd go with the simpler solution.

caprile your not the only one. I also trust needles way more. But if you think about it, the needles can get messed up from being moved around or banged around over time. but I also agree with the needles being more accurate, or at least I trust their judgment a little more.
