will a hipshot gt-2 work with a jem guitar?

i want to know because im new to floyd roses (and tuning them and setting them up!)
so will it, can i i just pull the lever and switch to drop D? or down half a step or should i use an evh d tuna? (i constantly tune down half a step and to drop d and live too so its kinda awkward)
thanks from cam!!

best thing is get an extra guitar for that detuned stuff if you have to switch back and forth between standard and flat. ha ha. but the d-tuna works great for drop d. i had one on my Jackson that worked great once you got it set up.

Re: will a hipshot gt-2 work with a jem guitar?

As I understand it, the gt2 will effectively rotate the tuner to achieve the drop in pitch of the string. the issues are:
1. You'll need to remove the locking clamp on the nut for the string you're changing the pitch of (unless you do something clever this will unlock the adjacent string as the clamps operate on pairs of strings). This will compromise the stability of the trem system as at least one string will no longer be locked.
2. when the string is loosened to achieve the change in pitch, all the other strings will go sharp as the JEM has a floating trem.

The EVH D-tuna is better as you don't need to unlock the strings at the nut but it relies on the fact that the trem is set so it can't pull up otherwise you'd have the same problem as 2. Also the d-tuna is designed for floyds and the trems on the jem are not the same, it may work on an edge for example but definately not on a lo-pro!
