After reading countless forum posts on re-tubing and required tech bias setting, *I called Bob at Eurotubes and ordered a replacement set of tubes for my
Marshall DSL 2000. *Bob surprised me by telling me that setting your own bias is dirt easy, *and the dual bias probe required to do the job was available for 99.00 bucks.
5 days later I have the tubes and the probe, *and set out to to go for the big change. *Well, *Bob was right, *it couldn't be any easier. *He told me to take the old tubes out, *spray them with contact cleaner, *put them back in for cleaning the sockets, *then take em back out. *After that, *I plugged in the bias probe, *plugged in the new tubes in the probe sockets, *and fine tuned the bias set screws per Bob's verbal and printed instructions. *Total time for the job was about 1 hour - amp never left my room, *I know exactly what went on, *and now realize the different capabilities on setting the bias for different character/tones.
The probe works with ALL of the following tubes: *6L6, *6V6, 5881, EL34, 7581, 7591, 7027, KT66, KT77, KT88 tubes. *The guy who sells the probe is named George Alessandro, *
