Zoom G2

Hi, anyone here have a zoom G2 pedal. It's seems to be pretty interesting but before I decide to get one or not I'd like to try and get some answers. Does anyone play live with one of these? I'm thinking about running it basically through a cube 80x, is it worth getting the G2 for this type of use? I'm trying to expand my sound changing possibilities in a live playing situation so I really need to know if this is any good and if the setup I intend to use is recommended.

Thanks guys,regards
Nelson

I don't have any personal experience, but just a glance at harmony central reveals it's a solid pedal with pretty positive reviews for your stated needs. Still, effects pedals are so person-specific that you'd do better to play one for an hour or so than you would reading 5 hours of reviews online. Try before you buy. For these more simple multi-effects, if you can't get it to do what you want in an hour, it's best to look elsewhere.

Doesn't anyone use this? Does it suck to the point that nobody even cares?

It's a cool pedal with good effects.
Cheap as hell.
Its effects are better than those ones in a pod.
But to my tastes I prefer pod's amps.I like mesa boogie distortion so pod offers a better heavy distortion still this zoom is really good.Better than all other zooms I played since 1994.

Hi and thanks for your reply... I want this for gigging and I'll be running it through a cube 80x, I'm not able to try it out so before I get it and have left in a corner gathering dust and corrosion I'd like to know if it's worth it...

Sorry for the impatience but I want to know if this thing is really worth the money,

Regards,
Nelson

worth the money ?
Dude it's cheap as hell if you don't like it,burn it LOL
Yes it worth the money,to me this kinda of equipment is only good for practicing and composing cause I prefer tube amps for jamming and recording but if you need something small it's awesome. The only problem is it's not midi so you can only up or down banks unless you buy a zoom foot controler.

Re: Zoom G2

My friend owned a Zoom G2 and it was rugged and well built, but in his opinion (and mine) it didn't have a wide variety of sounds available. They seemed to be all heavy metal-like or hardly usable.

Fortunately/unfortunately for him, he accidentally left it on top of his car, and it fell off on the highway and smashed.

He now has a DigiTech RP80, and he says (despite it not looking quite as hardcore) the sounds it has are far superior.

I would have to agree with him in my opinion, as I own a DigiTech RP50 (same unit and same sounds but without the expression pedal attached) and I love it.

So look into the RP50 as an alternative jsut to be safe (the RP80 is unfortunately now out of production, but the RP50 has the same sounds anyway).

Re: Zoom G2

zoom g2 is a nice effect and you really need to have patience to get what you want.
i got my zoom g2 for 4 years ago just for practice and hey it really does sing..i did use my zoom g2 when the time my korg ax1500 powersupply crash at the gig and and its good and nice, the only thing that i change is the amp setting and i just have to buy a volume pedal so i can use the expression pedal alone...well ill tell you its good but i am planning to get the g9 soon, wider to work on and lot of controls.
