Zoom MSR-4 or Zoom PS-02 recorder? - What one should I go fo

Hi ya,

I am after a digital recorder to just mess about on (my computer keeps rebooting when I use N-Track/Sonar). I am not a pro - just need something that I can lay down drums etc and make songs.

At the moment I use my Zoom RhythmTrak 323 for drums/bass.

Anyone used either the Zoom MSR-4 or Zoom PS-02? How did you find them? Any alternatives?

My setup is this...

Ibanez JS1000BTB
Marshall ValveState AVT20
BOSS GT6
BOSS RC-20 Loop Station
Zoom RythmTrak 323 Drum Machine
CryBaby Wah

Thanks

James

Zoom MSR-4 or Zoom PS-02 recorder?

I have a PS-02. It's a nice little 3 track sketch pad and great for taking to the park etc. However, it doesn't give as much scope as other units when it comes to programming the drums. These are preset into 'blocks' which you string together with the basslines included. This makes it really easy to use but not particularly versatile. Clean sounds are pretty cool, distortions/overdrives are not not so cool (think wasp in a jam jar).

In short it's OK but I would probably invest in some decent software for my PC and a POD if I lost the Zoom. If you want to 'lay down' the drums in a true sense, I'd certainly look elsewhere.

Korg have a new unit on the market which you might want to check out. I can't remeber the model name and don't know much about the features but.....

Zoom MSR-4 or Zoom PS-02 recorder?

Thanks guys!

I managed to get my n-Track working on my PC so now I am using that to record music.
One thing, anyone know how I can stop my guitar's pickups from picking up my monitor's signal? Maybe some kinda noise reducer?

LCDs don't do this, so if you have $300 to throw around...
