One nick on the end of the headstock.
Body black paint is quite nice (for 20 years old) and has just a few blemishes that are hard to photograph. One blem is what seems like a tiny bubble in the paint at one spot about 3" above the tremlo but I cannot get the camera to see it...
This guitar has been played quite a lot so the pick guard and body has all the very fine scratches as a result.
It has always had an easy-to-play feel and a good sound.
I play guitar as a hobby and this guitar has never been "set-up" by a professional, (or by me), yet it is one of the nicest playing guitars I have ever touched. Good sound and always in tune.
I am original owner and I bought it from a music shop in or near Tom's River NJ early 1989 or late '88. I bought it just one month after buying my 77FP which I planned to keep as a collectors item. The VBK was to be my "player". I do not have any of the paperwork that came with it originally, (I've never been good at keeping things like that).
In many photos you might notice a velcro strip on the top of the body edge near the devil-grip. That was used to hold picks. I peeled that off and the resudual glue just rolled off with thumb rubbing and thankfully the body paint under that is still in excellent shape. There are photos showing that area after I pulled the velcro pad off.
The back plate that covers the tremlo springs is missing right now and I hope to find it but cannot promise success on that.
The cable jack cover-plate on the back on the guitar still has the protective plastic film on it and that is why it has a brownish color.
I'm asking for $1500 sorta-firm because I'm not desperate to sell it. I know if I do sell the guitar that in 5 or 10 years I'll be saying to myself, "I wish I had my Jem". I just don't play this guitar now and it has been sitting around for probably 5 years since I last played it. It seems that all I listen to is SRV and my Mexican Strat gives me the strat sound I want when playing along. And really I hardly even play my Strat....so why have 4 guitars when I never even play one of them???....ramble....
Please PM to me if interested
