FS JEM7VWH

Hi All

I've decided to sell my JEM - it's a 1998 model that I bought in Leicester, England for £1700 or there abouts. It comes with the original "Signature" flight case (model F98...).

It's totally standard - of course with the ebony fingerboard - and is close to mint condition. I've played it only in rehearsal room sessions and have always been very careful not to get ot scratched or dented. That being said there are a few small marks on it but really very little. Really looks like new and plays beautifully - in fact I only take it out of the case once every few months these days and even then never have to tune it, wonderful...

Price-wise I'm a little uncertain what it is worth, I'm guessing around €1750 but maybe that's a little high - judging by the others for sale with damage though maybe it's about right.

I'm living in Brussels, Belgium and could probably arrange to deliver it myself to most parts of Europe (including UK) - would be safer than courrier anyway. Of course I can post some pictures if there's interest.

In fact I'm selling it so I can buy an Apple Mac Pro so if anyone has a brand-new new one of those lying aroung then I'd trade...

Cheers
Dave

Not a single response? :-(

Am I pricing it too high or is there little interest in '98 VWH's? Guidance would be welcome...

Way too high. There is no way you will ever sell it for that price, ever. You have to ask yourself, why on earth would someone buy it!?!?! You can get a brand new one off e-bay for £1200/£1300, and second-hand ones go for about £800-£1100. And your one is chipped etc.

Thanks for the feedback Danny. It's very close to mint (no chipped paint at al but a couple of small dents (very very small) and I thought that the older models were actually more sought-after than the new ones because of the fingerboard.

I'm open to offers then...

Re: FS JEM7VWH

Extra pics added - I don't have a fancy camera, just a compact digital but I think they show the guitar well enough. Picture 282 onwards are the new ones.

I took the pictures trying to see the guitar from every angle - in doing so I of course had a closer look at it than I have for many years. I haven't even polished it for the shots, just straight out of the case.

There's one dent on the top you can clearly see in the photo, also I noticed that there's a crack/gap where the jack socked fuses to the body - it's not loose or anything and I'm wondering if it was like the from new.

The guitar has been played like I said, not much and I'm not Vai so it's not been intensive playing. It has signs of being played - inevitably the gold on the bridge is a bit worn off, not totally but it's thinning a bit. Some of the frets lower on the neck are worn a little but not much. There are very very fine scratches on the pickguard and body but you only see them in the right light. The neck is in perfect condition.

I cannot imagine there's a much better condition one out there for sale that has been played. If 'mint' means 'as new' then of course that's not the case but if 'mint' means in superb condition then this is that.

It's worth a lot more than £775, I'm not giving it away. Serious offers please.

Re: FS JEM7VWH

Ugh, Monday morning - does that stink or what?

Anyway, I'm less ignorant now on value and condition and after some consideration I think a fair price for my JEM is £995 (that's 1450EUR) - shipping to be discussed depending on location etc.

Re: FS JEM7VWH

Hi Dave,

Photos look nice. I tried to respond yesterday but there were system issues with posting replies. I am interested in buying your guitar from you - it looks in pretty good shape. I'll give you £925 in cash (about €1400). I hope you consider this a serious offer. I live in London. Did I understand your post correctly when you said that you could deliver it yourself, i.e. come to the UK? That would be AWESOME!!!! I'll buy you beer when you are here if you do that!!!

I've never had a JEM. I've been playing now for 12 years and I have an RG450 which I got when I was about 16 and I am 28 now. That baby has served me for that long but I think that it is time I splashed out and got a better guitar - a nice guitar - a wonderful guitar!

What do you think Dave?

If you would consider this offer, I'd be happy to speak to you in person on the phone. I can give you my email address and my phone number and we could communicate further that way. Let me know!

Many thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
Dave S

p.s. Spreek je toevallig nederlands / vlaams? Waar in Belgie woont u eigentlijk? Ik ben Iers en heb in nederland gewoont. Mais aussi en France ;-)
