Hmmm I detect a Mr Gilbert theme somewhere here . But yeah a set list beforehand would be great and stop those awkward 'anyone know a tune' moments which always seem to result in a total mind blank ( well for me anyway ).

Right off over to the powertab archive now to get these tabs .

P.S: Paul, up for a Viking Kong Duet?

Cheers
Mark.

lol. Joke aside when you were doing these Yngwie licks and the 2 melodies 5-6 finger tapping was amazing.

That's why I was so confused.
It looked like P4 but in P2 colour. I though that it must be a new model or a reissue of some kind.

lol. I wish my shredding is as "ridiculous" as yours. You plain rock.

That's a great idea as it would give lesser guitarists (read "me") a chance to play without making a mess out of the song.
Going Down - Jeff Beck
Simon already has his solo for that covered with his insanely fast pick tapping - a la Joe.

the only playing thing I was happy with on Sat was my rhythm playing with my chunky deep tone from the BMC

Don't remember doing Yngwie licks, cause I can't, but I did try to "unleash the focking fury" whenever possible. The tapping must have been Greentinted it's the only thing I admit to being good at.

Well it sounded like Yngwie but could have ben anything.
Something like that

-------------12-9------------------8-14-8----------
-----------9-------11-----------9----------10------
---------8------------10-----10---------------9----
------10------------------8--------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------
and repeat 2-3 times but done really really REALLY fast and clean.
I cannot stress FAST strong enough. It was fast.

And the tapping was when your left hand was doing completely different melody do your right hand and the two melodies sounded as if 2 people are playing at the same time.
You were doing the bass line with your right hand and had it lower on the neck than the left.............

.......which reminds me that Clive's Mystical Potato Head tapping was surreal as well.
Stretching across 7-8 frets is nothing for that man.

ilia

P.S. Simon your pick tapping was so cool, that it was the first thing I tried doing when I got home.
I watched the G3 DVD and tried pick tapping with Satch.......and failed.

There was definitely some other tapping thing you did there dude, I distinctly remember the right hand bass-line melody thing going on as well, ya git

I think it might have been from a Vai track...could be wrong though.

Well now that my ego is back to normal after all the amazing things being said about my playing I'll try to be lucid.

I did try to do some sweeps ala PG IRI and some string skipping
and oh yes the tapping thing was meant to be Lighter shade of Green by Vai. It looks really flashy but it's actually really easy. Impresses the hell outa people. Dex if you want mail me and I'll send you a few examples

And I need to add some info on Si and Pete, I feel I know them really well James too for that matter but yadda yadda dosen't really some up these guys.

Pete, I can see why you like Keanelly. Pete folks, plays guitar, bass, keyboards AND drums most impressive, Superb bloke but don't race him in a pint drinking game

Simon, What a guy, his right channel of his amp (From ADA to BBE) is totally Spinal Tap (Private Joke), the other that actually gets amplified is even more so, I'm sure those 2:90's go to 11. I never made myself play his swirl, looking at it was GAS enducing enough especially when he goes "Oh I have a BFP that would be a good swirl project !"

This was the first time that I've actually been at a jam with A. a Jem B. a guitar with a whammy so forgive me for all the silly whammy antics.

And next time we're drinking red bull/vodka on Sat so we go to Gossips !

Hey, don't you go dissing my clarinet skills! (I play a little of that too....) as for the drinking, clearly while paulo was learning to pull of paul gilbert's stuff "perfectomunodo" , I was clearly down the pub racing pints with people.....

Jemjams are fun, despite me turning up and realising I am a tad bit crap/bollocks to say the least, but then again it does make me realise I should start practicing seriously. Maybe without a job I'll have time to sit around all day and noodle, which I should do as everyone there just is just better and more technically adept than I am... Also, I tend to run out of licks with the first, oooooh, 30 seconds . Playing drums was cool though, even if I am limited to two rytms and a standard drum roll.

Songs for the next jam:
anything by cradle of filth

As for the people there, everyone is a good player in their own right and next time I'll be getting some of yous to show me some licks (and I promise I'll practice them this time ) , I can't really go through everuyone in detail as I am just in awe of too many peoples playing to be able to comment.

Special mention to ving and him kindly dropping me off home afterwards saving my shoulder from dropping off, simon for keeping my 2027 safe and paul for taking it to simons

It was well cool to see all the old faces (pete, with hair!) and some new ones as well , hopefully I can make it down next time as well

James

Hey guys, can I get a complete list of the names of everyone? I'm working on the mini-fest page for Jemfest.com and need this info. Plus, a list of every guitar there.

You can e-mail me the info if you wish.

Thanks everyone!
