S. Chicago 'burbs Guitar show

Sunday, Feb 27th, 2005 at the Double Tree hotel in Alsip (127th and Cicero Ave.) from 10-4 $7.00 admission.
This is about 2 miles from me so I'm pretty sure I'll be attending.
I have no idea how big this one will be, but they are fun nonetheless.

Hi bammbamm. Do you have any more info on it? Maybe a web link?

It's funny, I grew up not a 5 minute walk from that hotel. Me and my friends used to play tag there back when it used to be a Holiday Inn. Ah yes, the good old days...

Re: S. Chicago 'burbs Guitar show

Hey my wife grew up in Alsip. One of my buddies from the south side (over by there) always wants to go to one of these with me. Maybe all us jemsiters could set a meet time or something. Then, like any blind date if I think you guys are ugly I'll just go the other way and never call you. Then one of you will be like "hey aren't you frank?" and I'll say "frank who? I don't know any frank." and then someone will come up to me and say "hey frank long time no see!-frank-frank falbo right?" and I'll be all embarassed and speechless.

In other words, if any of you are up for an awkward moment, let me know.

Bamm I could bring the Commanche.

I'll be there around 12:30-1:00. I'm easy to spot, I look like an idiot. Oh wait, I forgot this will be a guitar show. There could be plenty of other idiots there. I'll be coming from church so at least I'll have nice looking clothes on.

Roger that... I think I'm sick Sunday...

Don't worry, if Dave's not wearing pants I won't let him go. I have standards.

Re: S. Chicago 'burbs Guitar show

Well, sadly, the thing is less than 2 miles from my house and I couldn't make it.
I do have an excuse, my wife is on bedrest, she's trying to have the baby a lil early and we don't want that it this point, maybe next week, but not now.
Sorry guys, hope it was fun, should have traded #'s so you could have at least stopped by and we could have jammed a lil.

Re: S. Chicago 'burbs Guitar show

Yeah, I missed it, too. The reason was that it's a 1-hour drive from where I live, and I had to deal with a guitar issue over the weekend (long story, but I had to return a guitar I bought online, it's just took me forever to figure out what was wrong with it because I'm new to doing my own setups).

So to those who went: how was it?

Re: S. Chicago 'burbs Guitar show

It was pretty cool. No luck in selling off any of the RG stuff we brought, since it was a vintage show. But there was lots of pretty cool vintage stuff, although you'd think 95% of the guys there have never used a tremolo effect on an amp before, since almost everyone had amps cranked with the tremolo on. So, I had fast cycling "wharar, wharar, wharar" going on in my head all day long.

Some reasonable deals, some unreasonable, as expected. Made some good contacts for stores in the immedite area outside Chicago - Milwaukee and northern Indiana to be specific.

Maybe I bought a '74 Les Paul Custom 20th Anniversary model, maybe I didn't...

What RG stuff did you bring?
And if you happen to have any pics of the guitar you didn't buy
I'd love to see pics.

Re: S. Chicago 'burbs Guitar show

I'll PM you with some links to pics later tonight. I teach after work on Mondays, so it'll be somewhere around 9:00 to 10:00 I suppose.

But, pretty much, it's 1991 or 92 or somewhere in there jewel blue RG560 with stock V2,S1,S1 pups and a more recent AANJ 570 with IBZUSA pups and a 270DX neck. I have the original bubinga stripe neck for that one, with a new set of frets on it, but I'm not so sure I want to part with it. AND - I'm just telling you this now in this thread because you asked, I'm not listing these as sale items - I don't want anyone jumping my case for this.

I did have a red RG550 that I traded to parker_fly the other day. There's another 1 or 2 I've got pending deals on right now.
