Any Cubase users?

Hey all, I'm trying my best with Cubase SX3.

Maybe I'm inpatient, but I can't figure out how to multi track with it with seperate input channels.

Say, audio track 1, i want to assign it to input 1, say track 2 assign it to input 3, get what I mean?

How do I do it? The user manual is as much use as having an ashtray on my chopper.

Re: Any Cubase users?

Ok I got it sorted now. Just need to master the art of mixing. My Motu interface uses that Cuemix DSP mixing, which will obviously affect the levels that Cubase sees. Now, as Cubase also has a mixer on it, I'm not sure which to use?

Re: Any Cubase users?

What you want to do is use the Cubase mixer to mix the tracks after you record them. You could use Cubase for everything too, it's really your preference. I always have done just that!

...And cubase can be a pain which is why I try to use WaveLabs whenever possible

Re: Any Cubase users?

to assign your inputs you can go to devices > VST Connections, click the input tab, and it allows you to change things right there, or even add busses... and if you find yourself stuck, i have a walkthrough i wrote, located here

Re: Any Cubase users?

Cool thanks.

Another question is, why does cubase have three mixers?

And any suggestions for rocking drum loops?

read my walkthrough, and listen to your favorite bands and try to listen to things their drummer does...

Re: Any Cubase users?

Nice looking walkthrough. I'll follow it and see how i get on with the drums. But loops would also be nice, the ones recored with pro drummers on real kits.

I had a go, but still, cubase drums are useless. I can't get what I want where and when I want it, everything is so out of time.

Looks like I'm not the only one having these problems with the drums.

Anyway, have been reccomended Battery V2, Stienburn Groove Agent and loop cd's from people (not Jemsite).

can drum loops from other programmes be converted onto Cubase? Mapping the drum patterns out manually takes a lifetime

Re: Any Cubase users?

I used to make loops with fruity loops then import them as .WAVs into Cubase, this was time consuming though and I HATE manually clicking drums in.

I use my keyboard for drums now and it's a hell of a lot easier once you've got the hang of playing them.

Re: Any Cubase users?

Is it a midi keyboard? Does it go straight to cubase or fruity loops again?

Re: Any Cubase users?

i'd imagine you could export fruity loops stuff to midi too if you wanted to use something in cubase for your drum sound, i use drumkit from hell 2... you can also export guitar pro's to midi and import them into cubase for your drum track, thats a good way to make backings if you get a full guitar pro from say mysongbook or something... my favorite part of cubase though, is its drum editor, its superior to any other recording app i've ever used...

Re: Any Cubase users?

Drum kit from hell, is that the sample cd? I've been looking at that for drum loops. Think i might have been looking at the first one, red cover.
