Audio Recording Interface for Laptop

Hi guys,

I'm on the market for an audio interface that I can use for my laptop. I sometimes stay out for jobs and would like to record on the road if ideas come up. So I would like something that is portable enough to carry. Also, if the interface includes a good, usable software, plugins, effects, that would be great too.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I'm kinda looking at the Line 6 UX2 with Pod farm and also at the Guitar Rig Session.
I'm also looking at the Reaper software that everyone is raving about.

What's your budget? Also, what will you be hooking up to it most of the time?

You should try reaper. I'm testing it right now (installed it this week) and liking it so far.

I will be using guitar and vocal mics most of the time. Just simple stuff to record on my laptop. Reaper looks great, I agree.

I have a Maudio 410 Firewire with Pro Tools 8 for sale, always worked great for me, but I am upgrading to the Eleven Rack

I have a macbook pro...running logic 9 and a toneport ux2 from line 6. great for one vocal track and one guitar track recording at the same time with effects! That price you can't go wrong! As far as the DAW...so many to choose from. Cubase and logic have been my top 2!!!

I really like the looks of the new Presonus Firebox. $299 and comes with a lite version of their new Studio One software. http://www.presonus.com/products/Det...px?ProductId=4

Focusrite Saffire

Firewire
2x TRS inputs
2x Mic inputs

For some reason this model is being sold in shops but is not on their website. Weird.

M-Audio Profire 610 works great for me but there are less expensive options.
