Audix Microphones... STINK.

Yeah, I should have just picked up another SM57.

Long story short... I sing in a band in addition to playing guitar. Rather than leave my Shure at the practice space, I went to the local music shop to pick up some extra mics.

Using someone else's mic is like using another person's toothbrush, and other people jam at the same jamspace that I use. So I figured I'd grab something to leave there. I went to buy a SM57, and the clerk told me that they had these killer Audix CD11's that were two for $100, with cables and a free stand.

So I bought them.

A week later, one broke the same way as the one that broke today.

The things just frickin' fall apart! I'm about to break out my soldering iron and put 'em back together.. But sheesh! What crappy design!

Just a heads up...

I like the Audix OM-5 I have. Never dropped it though, so I dunno how tough it is. Sounds better than a SM58 to me.

I love my OM-3 she's been dropped, knocked, stepped on, still sounds perfect. Sounds like the 2 for 100 bux was a VERY low end mic. You get what you pay for IMO.
Sures are good durable mics, but try and find 2 for 100 bux that don't end up the same way ( unless the're used.)
