Re: Basic recording.

A USB audio interface from Edirol or M-Audio, and a freeware program, like audacity would be a good start, although the interfaces usually come with some software anyway...

Re: Basic recording.

You can run it directly the line out/headphone out on your amp into the generic PC sound-card (you might need a little adapter thing 1/4" -> 1/8") or a USB interface, or you can buy a mic (Shure SM58 or similar is the usual choice), and plug that into soundcard/audio interface.

Why would he plug in MIDI cables and interface? Those are used only for editing the POD, they dont transfer audio..

He needs regular audio cables and sound card, or audio interface in order to conect POD 2.0..

Also check out Line6 TonePort....it has bass, guitar and MIC inputs...and it's not that expencive...good solution for what he wants...

It is useful for editing and saving stuff on pod but also does a good job getting music into the pc.

It works great for me but I'm sure there are loads of other ways to do it

Re: Basic recording.

Thanks guys, I'm currently looking for the POD 2. But i think its much easier if I just get an adapter and connnect it into the soundcard. Now, any cheap soundcards you guys can help me out with?

Re: Basic recording.

Ok, so i tried to record now. But there seems to be a problem. Every time i record something, you can hear static (really loud). I'll post my sample in soundclick.

Re: Basic recording.

How exactly is it being recorded? Line out to soundcard?

I can't really hear much, but it's nice playing on the clean Hendrix bit...

Re: Basic recording.

well i tried two different ways: I connected the amp from the headpohones to the soundcard in my computer. The other way was from the CD-In emulated line out to the computer. But either way theres still the fu*king noise!

Hmm, tough to say what the problem is, though I do remembe that happening when I tried to connect my peavey combo to the PC. Try switching around some things in the windows volume control (options->recording), turn mic boost off if it's on, try changing mic levels and so on. Try to see if you can change the default recording device in windows.

I fear though that it might be something to do with the amp's output levels, and you'd need some sort of a dedicated preamp or an audio interface.
