Best "Bang for the $" Monitors???

Hey everyone,

Just moved to much bigger pad and I've got a much better space for studio work. Just wanting to upgrade to some decent monitors from the true POS's that I have now.

So what are the best monitors that won't break the bank...I'd like to stay under $600 for a pair. I was thinking something along the lines of KRK Rockit 8's or the M-Audio BX8s. Events look nice but are over my threshold, at least the Precisions are, not sure about the lower priced models.

At any rate, anybody got any advice?

After looking and listening a few brands (Beringher, Roland) I have just bought today a pair of Alesis MK1 acitve MKII (biamplified) which are on your range. Have a look and let me know what do you think.

I have a pair of BX8's and they're great... I particularly like how they can be "tuned" to fit different studio environments.

I just got some Tapco S8 i think is the model number, so far they are great, but very big for 2 8" monitors.
The Low frequency and High frequency amps are 60 watts RMS 100 watt peak. Each monitor has it's own amp.
