Buying a Four-Track - need some help

* * * * * * * * * * Hello all ! *
* * * * Well, whenever i get my sacred tax check back, i'm going to treat myself to a nice little four track recorder...problem is is that i don't know much anything about them.I'm not looking to spend an awful lot of money, but i still want quality. If you guys could clue me in on some good brands of these things, i'll give you a cookie if you come to my house.

Buying a Four-Track

I recommend one based around a hard drive. *How much are you looking to spend?

Buying a Four-Track

Your going to have a hard time finding a HD recrder that is 4 track... *The big question here is analog vs digital. *I would definately say digital is better for the home studio, except that most if not all digital 4 track are severely limited in the number of tracks you can record simultaneously. * If you are looking to record your band with it... or think you may want to someday... go with a Tascam 424 ($399 USD) or something similar... this gives you 4 track simultaneous record. *

Boss and korg have some cool digital recorders for right around 400 bucks that are cool, have built in effects and drum track, but they only let you record on 1-2 tracks simultaneously... (fine if you're just using it to write songs in your bedroom... very bad if you want to record your band....)
