CRT vs LCD will LCD kill the hum?

EMGs still cause hum with a CRT monitor.

I'm glad I got my Zoom G7.1ut and a new LCD monitor on the weekend!

(Mmm, chilling on holiday by the beach enjoying the winter sun while reading Jemsite on my PSP!)

CRTs are evil in a studio environment. i went from 2 17" CRTs to 2 17" LCDs. huge difference. white noise and hum were virtually eliminated. pc fan aside...for live stuff. but my pod is super quiet. and the tone is more full. one of the best investments you will make in a home studio. that a a good tube preamp for vocals!!!

Still yet to see a TFT or LCD that can produce the colour correction of a CRT, but I agree with the noise issue. The electromagnetic radiation emmitted is a pain with pickups and mics.

yeah i've been using 2 - 20 inch widescreen lcds for a while. no hum whatsoever. tons through when i had an old 19 inch crt

if you wouldnt mind it too much, cover your crt with the material from screen doors you can get it at your local home depot for pretty cheap.

Creating a Faraday cage over your CRT would work eccept you really can't cover the screen...

Sure, you guys tell me this AFTER I get a wireless keyboard and mouse...

Though, to be fair, I don't have much of a noise problem and the convenience of being able to trigger recording from the other side of my room where the acoustics are a little better, caged in by a pair of mics with an acoustic guitar, and away from the slight background noise of my comp's cooling fan, is probably a fair trade.

Right now im using a 17" CRT(Big somofabitch) and CompUSA has a good deal on a 19 LCD will it help or not worth spending the money..

I mean if its not broke dont fix it unless its going to significantly reduce some interference.

My MAC rig is equipped with two LCD's and I don't hear a thing. They're nice to look at too as well as space savers.
