Cubase system X

Hi,

I was wondering does anyone have an opinion on cubase system 4/2.

I currently use cooledit pro but have been meaning to switch to cubase for a while so I can start using VSTis. I have recently started to into the midi side of things but have no midi inputs for my laptop and dont envisage getting a desktop in the next few years. so i was thinking that cubase system 4/2 might be a good option.

Should I go for it, or would I be better off sticking to cool edit and getting somthing like a tascam us-122 to interface with my laptop.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated

Thanks

Steve

The Tascam US-122 comes with a bundled version of Cubasis (8 tracks of audio, and some other limited features, but works with most VST plugins, etc.) as well as Gigastudio24. I'm guessing you'd get more than 8 tracks with other software, and that it's not a hardware limitation.

Other than that, most MIDI controllers these days can be connected to your computer through USB.

Thanks for your comments.

I have been considering the tascam/'some other brand' MIDI usb option but I can get system 4 for about £280. Tha tascam thing alone will cost about £120.

so for the extra cash i was wondering what am I actually getting and is it worth it? .... I cant decide

Thanks
