Cubasis VST

I just got Cubasis VST and I heard I can use instrument sounds that Cubase has made in my MIDI recordings. Where do I get these sounds? Once I get these sounds do I record them using a MIDI track? Thanks.

anyone? I think they're called VSTi. Do I use an external MIDI keyboard to trigger these VST sounds and record them to a MIDI track in Cubase? Will I be going through my soundcard? I have a MIDI to USB connector for the keyboard. Where can I get these sounds? There's gotta be at least one Cubase user here that can help me out

VSTi's are instruments that run in Cubase or Cubasis, that you control with a Midi keyboard such as the Oxygen 8. You'd record them to a midi track, and convert upon mixdown.

Some VSTi's are Halion, Kontakt, Absynth, and Battery. Some can run on their own, some need a VST host.

If you have a 'soundblaster' type card there should be an onboard synthesiser which should produce sounds from a MIDI track (albeit, farely dodgy sounds depending on the card). In the instrument/output column of the 'Inspector' make sure you have the onboard synth highlighted as your chosen instrument/output.

Hope this helps
