Drum Loops?

I want to start recording some of my own material and I need drums in the songs(obviously). I'm figuring that drum loops in the acid format will be the easiest way to go about doing this. I don't have much money to spend and I need some recommendations on what drum loops to buy. The only ones that I've found for a reasonable price is Cakewalk Drumatic. And if there is an easier way to go about doing this than drum loops please tell me.

Re: Drum Loops?

I abandoned drum loops a few years ago because I felt it was too limiting. Nowadays, I program my own drums using MIDI (I use Sonar 5) with a sampler (V3) loaded with drum hits. Check out Sonic Implants Blue Jay series - there's also a ton of free drum soundfonts and samples out there. Several programs out there allow you to program realistic drums (BFD, Battery, DFH, Addictive Drums, etc.) There's also a lot of articles and info about how to program realistic drum beats. Check out Computer Music magazine (http://www.computermusic.co.uk/) from the UK as there's always a lot of good advice in that magazine.

Re: Drum Loops?

The only problem with that is that it's harder to use than drum loops. I know loops are limiting but I'm just a beginner. Does anyone have any recommendations for what drum loops to buy?

Some free samples to get you by.

Re: Drum Loops?

Betamonkey is good. One of my favority packages is the Smart Loops (http://www.smartloops.com/). Pro Drum Works Volume One is awesome. I have that as well as several others. Dry Studio kit is also really good.
