Drum Parts...

Hey guys,
I am trying to figure out how to write some drum parts to throw into different tracks I have recorded. I want to avoid Fruity Loops because though it is easy, it is pretty crappy sounding. I hear all this talk about sequencers and such but would someone kindly tell me what that is and how to use one. I am running cubase but have older Cakewalk programs from a sound card I bought a while back. So someone just let me know what I need to get to write out some drum parts and such for my songs.
Thanks,
Stephen

Re: Drum Parts...

i (used to*) use fruityloops with varying degrees of success. it's essentially just a sequencer - the key to getting good results is in finding good samples to work with. some of the stock fruity loops sounds can be a little too synthetic.

*i say used to because i haven't done anything for a while.
