Finally put the studio to use (pics)

I finally had friends over to put the studio to use yesterday. Surprisingly there were no problems and everything worked like I wanted it to.

Drums, the final part. MF had this kit as their Stupid Deal of the Day last week so I bought it. Not the best sounding kit but it lets me have a full band jam without the cops showing up.

The desk. Pod X3, Korg Prophecy and Boss DR-880

Roland XP-30

Basically I'm set up to record a full band live and going directly into the computer lets me get away without having to mic anything or worry about the room.

All together the whole setup was only around $2500, and it works great.

Will do. We basically just jammed for a few hours so there is nothing great recorded. I want to trim the fat and I will post a clip just to give an overall impression of what it sounds like.

I'm very very interested in the Presonus FireStudio Project. How are you liking it yourself? As soon as I upgrade to a new Mac (one with more then a gig of RAM..lol), I will be getting that.

I've also seen those Monitors everywhere! What's the brand? KRK or something? I guess they sound good....maybe I should get a pair of those later down the road.

The Firestudio Project is great, no complaints at all and Presonus tech support is top notch.

The monitors are KRK, they are all right, but I would like to upgrade them pretty soon. I went against my first rule and bought what was cheapest instead of what I wanted.

Go for it! I have one and use it with my mac, no problems and sounds great . I daisy-chain it with the firestudio-mobile and I can record 10 separate tracks of simultaneous audio with a single gig of RAM with no hiccups, I can't say enough good things about my experiences with Presonus.

I'm starting to feel like a salesperson lawl.

To OP: cool setup. Definitely post some clips when you get the chance.

Re: Finally put the studio to use (pics)

great start, cid, now, treat that room!

after you do that, i feel that you will like those krk's alot more. i mix with krk rp8g1's and have a pair of both rp5g1 and g2's. they are excellent sounding speakers for the budget.
what mics/preamps are you using? the presonus stock pres are good, but not amazing. i own a FS 2626 and like it alot, but the main reason why i went with it was for the i/o and extras(msr). the pres are solid and good, but i have better outboard and never use the xmax pres. get some bass trapping in that room and give your ears christmas.

Re: Finally put the studio to use (pics)

I just bought a new desk for the studio, gave me some more desk space and room to walk. With the last setup I couldn't get into the closet (quiet in the peanut gallery). Better cable management, more space and just a nicer desk. This one even has a 4 port USB hub right on the desk top.

Your studio will not be complete until you replace those empty bottles above the desk with some full ones.
