Firewire audio recording...

Hi guys,

My mum has finally got round to asking my uncle to build us a computer. Obviously im gonna want to record on it so i have to get it set up for rec.
Should i go with a normal soundcard or would firewire be better, i.e m-audio 410 firewire or terratec, dmx6fire. Ill mainly be recording guitar bass and drums, mainly separately, thanks very much!!!

If it's a desktop, I don't really see the point in spending the extra money on firewire, when it's no faster than PCI, plus, to get the firewire you'd have to buy a FW PCI card anyway (unless you find a board with onboard FW).

For example: M Audio 410 is roughly the same as the Omni studio, but $100 more.

The benefit for FW is in laptop applications, or in cases when you want to use the same interface on different computers.
