For Presonus Firebox users - help needed

Hi guys. Just had a brandnew firebox some days ago. I downloaded the driver version 2.46 on Presonus website and installed. But I couldn't get the red light going to blue how hard I tried. I then disabled my onboard sound card - didn't work! I've gone through troubleshooting on Presonus website - didn't work neither. I use Windows XP SP2. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Re: For Presonus Firebox users - help needed

right now i am dealing with my own problems with the firestudio. in sonar 6 pe, i can't get it to open up the asio drivers, the wdm, it sees, but only as a stereo pair. sucks because i have 2 digimax d8's running into adat and am syncing with bnc. control console sees all three units and all 24 ins, so it appears to be a driver/sonar issue. the best help i can give you, is to look at the presonus forum. they have a link to the forum through the presonus homepage. i have trid in vain to find the answers to my problem, but you may have better luck with yours.
also, check out your firewire driver. presonus says that the texas instruments and via chipsets are the best supported. if you are using another, you may need to purchase an additional firewire card with the TI chipset.

Got a couple of questions guys. What machines are we talking about here (specs)? I have just finished testing an xp install with SP3 and so far everyhting is working the way it should.

Now, as far as the Firestudio and firebox, have you guys tried using ASIO drivers?

Rich, what OS are you using?

hey, jim, finally figured out what was wrong with my rig. ASIO drivers are picky. they like only one device at a time. i remebered that when i had conflicts with a delta 1010lt's and a creative audigy. had to disable the creative in order to make it work. once i disabled it, i got it to work. now I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! 24 tracks of class a pre's!!! in the process of rewiring the entire studio, but i have never been more happy. i am looking into some nicer preamps and mics. my sweetwater rep recommends the mojave audio ma-200, which looks promising, and i have my mind set on the ssl alpha channel as a pre. until then, the presonus will work out superbly.

btw, i am using an opteron 180 dual core with 3gigs on sonar 7 pe with xp pro, sp2. the digimax d8's are adat in optical with bnc sync. the firestudio is an amazing piece of gear, the faderport is fun, not as featured as my bcf2000's, but cool for transports. i am using both together until i can figure out how to link another bcf2000 to control 16, then i'll buy another for 24. cannot wait until the msr comes in!!!

That's great to hear Rich! If you're interested, I have an xp iso with sp3 included that only takes up about 400mb (not counting the page file). That's what I'm going to use for my daw partition on my laptop and I think I'm going to make it on 20gb to include all the software the firestudio came with and a couple of other apps.

The iso is completely legit and you have to use your own key to install it, so if you're interested, I can put it on rapidshare or something and you can download it from there. The iso was created specifically for a daw machine and most of the junk in xp has been removed to improve performance and use the os to record music and get on the internet (if you need any sort of updates or something).

I did the final beta test on a 4gb laptop hard drive that I found in my basement and, while I only had this thing in a 2gb partition, it was running solid.
