For the Love of God guitar?

What guitar and amp were used for the song specifically and that album? Anyone know?

Here's the guitar used on the album as far as amps go... He used several different types for the album but I believe in the song it was marshal or carvin.

I understand that same guitar is shown on the cover of the current Guitar Player magazine- although it's been repainted and sports a new pickguard and knobs.

Although he secured an endorsement with Carvin in the late 80's for their amplifiers, he used Marshall amps for the "Passion & Warfare" album.

The music score book says there were alsorts present bt I presume it's one of his old modded Marshalls.

The bogners were used extensively on the ALS record though

Re: For the Love of God guitar?

I think I remember reading somewhere that the neck pickup he used on the song specifically was the PAF PRO 7.

Re: For the Love of God guitar?

I don't think the PAF Pro 7 existed then (does it even exist now, not on the DiMarzio website), FTLOG was recorded in the late 80s (P&W released in 1990), not a lot of 7 string replacement pickups then. I sure it was either a Blaze or a Blaze (how's that for choices...). Amps were almost certainly Marshalls, and the od pedal was an old Boss SD-1 (I was amazed the first time I plugged one in and used it as a boost). Eventide delay/reverbs, and of course, the mic'ing, compression, and of course, recorded to tape.

AFAIK, DiMarzio only offered the Blaze model for 7-string guitars.
It might have been a custom model, at that time, but it sure must have been commercialized as the Blaze.

I agree.
It also says he recorded the whitesnake guitar parts at the same time. so i looked in the CD booklet and it does say marshall amplifiers, Mesa Boogie power amps, Strategy series power amps.
Hope that sheds some light your question.
