Free recording software


does anyone know of any fairly good freeware recording software for the pc. i wanna break myself into this stuff real slow...

Pro Tools Free. You can get it download or sent on CD. It's only 8 tracks, but it's very useful.

I also recommend n-track......... i downloaded the demo version which let you do quite a bit ......... i was impressed with it and then purchased the full version which cost me about $70 (australian)........

But its very easy to use

Cakewalk has 8 tracks for around $40.

I have been using n-Track for a couple of years and I have been EXTREMELY pleased with it. I ended up paying $35 for the full version, but it was a great try before you buy situation.

Search on Kazaa for Cakewalk Sonar.

Sucks that Protools doesn't work on XP/NT based operating systems though. Try Samplitude or Cakewalk.

I've been using Quartz Audio Master Free recently. It works on an XP box really well. I think they give you 4 free audio and 16 free midi tracks. Just enough to goof around with.

i got cubase sx after, its good stuff.. but little did i know that getting the software would be the easy part.....arggh!
