My buddy offered to let me try it, but does anyone have experience with it? are there any cool features that I should try to use?

I have it. I really like it. It works really well with my piece of **** Gateway that I bought in 1999 (had the hard drive replaced a while back), so I imagine it would sound even better with a newer computer.

To me, the coolest thing about it is that it's REALLY easy to use. You install the program, adjust your volume and hit record. It's very easy to use and sounds great.
