Re: Hard Drives?

IMHO, use the faster drive for your audio.

I will have to +1 that

I think that was my first usage of a "+1" anywhere

Re: Hard Drives?

is that Sata II drive transferring at the full 3.0 GB/sec or is scaled down to match the speed of the Sata 1 drive? I ask because it's interesting that you have a sata 1 and 2 drive on the same motherboard, so i'm wondering if it's a sata 1 only motherboard which would cause the sata 2 drive to transfer at half speed.

Hi,

The sata II drive is working at the full 3.0gb/sec.

Re: Hard Drives?

The interface does not matter on sustained transfers. Even the old ATA100 spec is faster than the drive hardware on sustained transfers, and audio is mostly like this because the files are large.

Personally, I'd use the faster drive as the OS drive. It will speed up every program to a degree. Plus, you have more room for audio. Only if you run into speed issues on multitrack playback would I rearrange things, and on a 7200 rpm drive you'd need a good amount of tracks to hit the wall.

...IMO...
