Help my Toneport
hey guys, i've been using toneport for few months, at first i thought all this problems i have on the computer is 'COMMON" but after awhile its pissing me off..
when i plug the usb to the computer, its still working okay, but when i play music at that time, it'll give me scratcy noise.. and stuff... beeping and all that crap, basically i cant use toneport while listening to my media player. that and whenever i try to record with audacity it gives me error sometimes and firefox start freezing, audacity too, and guitar pro also be messing up.
i wonder whats wrong with it?
i'm planning to add more RAM to my comp..
its currently at 768mb..with intel pent 4 3.0ghz
which i think its good enough..

Re: Help my Toneport
That seems to me like your drivers are out of date ? Did you check the drivers ? I also have a toneport UX2 and if the drivers are out of date it also does the most weird things ...

Re: Help my Toneport
768mb should be enough, being that I am using the toneport with 512mb. I have noticed that my computer slows down a bit and runs the fan like crazy while I'm using Gearbox, but no bleeping or scratches

Re: Help my Toneport
I've been reading some of the web sites on recording software and hardware, and (I'm definitely not an expert) this seems to be the consensus:
Software plug in's use up a lot of your RAM very quickly. Be selective about what plug in's you are using.
This is true of any software that you have open at one time. You want to close as many programs as possible, including those running in the background, before you start recording.
You most likely need a hard drive that runs at 7200 rpm. If you have a slower hard drive (most often on a laptop computer), you may have problems.
Soundcards have a tendency to introduce some noise into your recording. Standalone audio interfaces reduce this tendency. Also, sometimes computers can "see" a soundcard as if it was a separate peripheral. You may want to connect directly to a USB port that was original to your computer.
Some people have found out that they need to disconnect all other items from their computer in order to record (USB cameras, etc.). Once the other items have been disconnected, problems disappear.
Same for being online. Disconnect from the internet.
