Help with Audacity

Ok I plugged in my mic (to the computer) and put it on my amp and pressed record on the Audacity control panel, but nothing happened. All the things I played were not recorded. Help!

Re: Help with Audacity

go to the preferences and make sure your mic is selected at the input device.

I have been using audacity for a year now.. It will do VST plugins too.. Go to there site and browse around.

Re: Help with Audacity

Sorry, but how exactly do you use the VST plug ins? Ive tried to put on in the Plug-Ins folder, and it does nothing.

Re: Help with Audacity

I used Audacity for a while and all it did was cause 'fatal exception' errors. I finally got fed up with it and deleted the entire program. I'd be in the middle of recording something or listening back and it would just crash out of nowhere. No other program has done that before or since.

Re: Help with Audacity

Sometimes, if I use it with say Media Player or something else, the pc just restarts. Maybe a warning to only use Audacity on its own?

Re: Help with Audacity

I have another question now. I recorded a track and I was going to do another track but when I played it back there was an awful amount gain buzzing. I turned down the gain on the track control panel thing but now I can barely hear the tracks. Also, i put a click track on and i was just using it to record a rhythm part but it recorded onto the rhythm track and I cant get rid of it. Sorry if I confused you. HELP!
