How to add a Firewire port.

Well, today, I won an auction for a mint PreSonus Firepod. $445, not bad.

This thing requires a firewire port. (I think, im pretty sure)

I have a crappy Winbook laptop, and it doesnt have a firewire port

I was going to get a new Mac sometime soon, probably that new amazing Mac Pro. But. . .dunno when I'll be able to get that.

So. . .my computer DOES have USB ports, and some sort of card slot. Is they're anyway I can have get a add-on firewire port, so I can start using my firepod?

Thanks for the help!!! very much appreciated.

yeah, you can buy a PCMCIA card for firewire. Don't ask me about specifics, though. I got one for my notebook for my Mackie Onyx and it works fine..

$22 for this one:

You can spend more and get an 800Mb/s one, but this should work fine.

Heh. Considering that PCMCIA has the throughput similar to a PCI slot, it will never hit the speeds of FirewireII, so you're better off just getting the first.
