I Macs
This might bot be really 'recording' related but I've narrowed my search down for recording to the Imac G4 or G5. I just wanted to to now whether it is possible to run an Imac for Internet from a P.C (P.c is where our main connection is at) or is there any possible way of converting it so that i can run broadband on all my computers in the house including the I-mac?
Also .. suggestions on the Imac's would be cool
Thanks, Andy

Re: I Macs
You'll need to run your cable modem into a switch/router that gives you more than one output for your ethernet connections. THen just run one to each computer, the mac doesn't care....it's not coming from your PC. To make things easier, you can go wireless by getting a wireless switch/router, but those can be expensive and you have to buy wireless ethernet cards for each computer you want to connect. I have a Dell upstairs for the wife and kids, iMAC downstairs in studio for recording/audio.

Re: I Macs
Under no circumstances buy a G4, they're getting really outdated. To be honest I'd lean towards buying one of the new 17" Intel CoreDuo based iMacs... they are MUCH faster than the older ones... just make sure the recording package you're going to use is available as a universal binary.
The other thing is with the CoreDuo you can set it up to dual boot windows for gaming or any software not available for the Mac (doing this with my MacBook).

Re: I Macs
I take it Cubase works for I-mac? That for me is essential because we use it at my music college. What Imacs are best for recording, my budgets rougly £500/600 and looking on **** ...

Re: I Macs
Just found this ...
http://cgi.****.co.uk/Apple-iMac-G4-...QQcmdZViewItem
Is this a good deal? Good/powerful enough for recording? I don't know what kind of specs i should be looking for in these comps and even with the same model number they all seem to have different specs?
