I need help with recording

Hi,

I have a mackie dsp6 mixer, via the cd/tape record/playback RCA jacks running into an emu 0404 sound card, I/O plugs. I'm using the software that came with the 0404 card cubasis/wavelablite, sfx machine LT. I can't for the life of me figure out how to record my tracks...(very new at this). I have the card selected correctly in the wavelablite software so when I play, I can see its picking up what i'm playin (making them wavy colored lines). But when I try to play back what i've tried to record, I get nothing playing back...
I can play CD's and hear them, I can hear my guitar through the monitors, I can hear the mentronome sound when I open the cubasis software (tick tick tick tick). But I can't hear the noise i've recorded from my guitar. What am I doing wrong?
Anybody out there that can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I used to have long hair before i started this project, now i'm almost bald. heh heh heh

It sounds as though the problem lies with the software, if it's actually receiving line in information from playing your guitar then as far as i can see you've plugged everything in correctly.

Can you view the settings in Cubasis?(correct?) for playback options? It sounds to me as though your playback driver/utility is configured incorrectly.

Silly question - are you arming the track before recording?

It's software setting for sure. Mess with the options, read the manual, and you'll get it.

Re: I need help with recording

Thanks for the help... it was the options...
I didn't check the arming thing.... don't know what that is.

But now a new problem exists.....
This problem happens on the wavelab lite. I hit record, its starts to record, i see the bars moving when I play, then all of a sudden it stops recording... then starts to record again...this repeats at random intervals. I watched it do this for five mins, then started checking the options.. couldn't find anything that would help resolve this problem. Any ideas?

Also with the cubasis, it would only record 23 seconds of play time. Can I adjust this length?

I also started getting an error in cubasis something like "the software has lost connection with the hardware, you need to restart or goto options and redetect devices to continue". thoughts?

I think this would be easier if the software came with some type of manual. heh....

What are the specs of your pc? It almost sounds like not enough ram, or slow cpu or something.

If you have a slow pc find an older copy of cooledit 2000. It does everything you need and works well on older machines.
