I need suggestions for computer recording gear

I am currently recording at home using my crappy Zoom 505 II plugged into my SB Live! line in. I need something better because the sound quality of this thing is horrible (my Fender amp sound is A LOT better!). I was thinking about a Line6 POD. Any other suggestions? I don't need a professional equipment. It's just for home recording and having some fun in my spare time. :-)

The POD is a great recording tool. There are lots of other units that have sprung up as well. Personally, i'm really digging my BOSS GT-6.

The POD's great - I had the original POD and now have a POD Pro. Great sounds and the new ones (Pod XT) are meant to sound even more 'authentic'. Certainly nice and easy for recording.

A lot of people swear by the GT6 as well. They seem to be the two main runners but it's probably worth looking at the Johnson J Station and Behringer guitar thing as they're all within your price range.

Keep your eye on the new Line 6 POD XT. Not only is it more advanced in terms of technology (same chip as in their new Vetta amp), it has a ton of more effects and flexibility, and even features a USB port for direct recording. This is a nice feature as you won't necessarily have to worry about upgrading your soundcard from your current Soundblaster. Flip side is the drivers aren't even released yet but should be in the next few weeks. Check it out...

yeah, I use that with Acid 4.0 Pro, and it works out great. I have an Athlon 1800XP+, with 512mb of RAM and 2 7200rpm HD's.

I run a cheap Behringer mixer into the Mia, for mics and such.
