Logic Pro 8

Can anyone tell me a little bit about the differences in Logic Pro 8 and Garageband. I'm finding the included virtual percussion in garageband to be a little unsatisfying, and I was considering upgrading to get some more modern, more usable sounds.

I know that logic pro 8 comes with all the jampacks for garageband, which seems to justify the $500 expense by itself, but I really can't find any specifics about what exactly those jampacks contain online. It's a little maddening. Specifically I'm looking for some darker, more industrial sounding percussion.

If anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to have them. I'm pretty stupid when it comes to recording, but my mac should be able to handle any recording software I throw at it. Also any general tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, I'm learning this as I go.

Probably nothing to do with what your asking..but I was using logic Pro 8 this arvo for uni, and it seems like very decent program, it was easy to get the gist of it.
