Mbox vs Mbox 2

Which one should I get? I'm deciding weather or not to get the first or second version. Any differences?

Re: Mbox vs Mbox 2

mbox2 a little smaller, improved internals, MIDI, few other things i cant recall offhand...plus, grab new mbox2, pt7 is free once released.

on the other hand...mbox is cool, and with mbox2 out, used for even less...but to upgrade Pro Tools fron used mbox to Pro Tools 7, costs money

i'd go mbox2...

Re: Mbox vs Mbox 2

If you check out the digidesign forums, there are a few threads devoted to the differences. The biggist differences are:

1) New look
2) The software (you can upgrade to the mb2 plugins for $90 if you have the mb1), but upgrading to pt 7 is not free for mb1 users
3) The mbox 2 does not have the focusrite preamps. Many people suspect that the mb2 preamps are inferior to the mb1 preamps, but whether or not you'll even notice is up in the air.

I'd probably get an mb2, but as an mb1 owner, there is no reason for me to upgrade.
