MIDI question

Okay, I didn't know which forum to post this in. Whenever I try to make a mixdown with a MIDI involved on Cool Edit, it says the MIDI won't be included in the mixdown.

why is this?

cheers!

It's because midi is not actually audio data. It is a series of comands that tells your synth/sampler what to do. You need to record the audio output of your synth to disk and use that with your bounce.

That makes sense. But how would I record the audio output? Excuse me, I'm not very educated on this whole subject.

cheers!

p.s. Yes I am aware that I could mic the speakers, but I don't have any high-quality microphones.

Don't know if this will help you but do some searching in jemsites recording studio section for more info.

I remember reading about some MIDI questions there. I have the Acid Pro 4 software program and I can open up a MIDI file and then save it as a WAV file. Then I import the wav file into Pro Tools or another studio software program as a "new track".
