Ive heard more positives about the RP8 but pretty much anyone will tell you it's best to listen for yourself and let your ears be the judge. Go to your guitar center or
sam ash
with a song known to be well mixed and play it over the both monitors. I personally don't have experience with either but the RP8's are much more popular.

i've got the rp-8 and love them to no end. so have everyone who has heard them and own a pair. i have heard mixed reviews on the m-audio ones. i actually passed on the m-audio's for the krk when i had original purchased them a few years ago.

Get a return policy so you can listen to both sets in your room. All speakers will change somewhat depending on the space they are in and where the are located in relation to walls(and ceiling and floor too). The good/bad thing about both of these is the 8" woofer. Good in that they will likely deliver more potent low end, but bad in that the low end strength MAY expose anomalies in your room that get even worse with a beefy speaker. Most home studios on a budget end up in a spare bedroom and the room dimensions will create some serious peaks and dips in the response. For example, in my room(over a garage with sloping sides halfway up) about 13' wide, 21' long and 8' high, Mackie 824's(pretty high quality) had 2 peaks of +12-14db AND 2 notches of -12-14db all between 50Hz and 170Hz. Foam corner traps did nothing to help. Floor to ceiling 2" rigid panels in the front corners tamed the problems by 50% but it is still not accurate by any stretch. Sometimes I feel that my little RP6's give a truer response even though they don't go down as low or get as loud. Just wanted you to be aware of some basic physics that will rear its ugly head no matter what speakers you buy. By checking them out in your room, you may find a combination (your room + the right speaker) that yields a decent balance.

well technically there is return policy as I have some friends who live in Chile and they have told me a little about it, it just turns to be a very ****ty one lol, some times you have to take the product back inside the box which must still be sealed, so you canīt try them out; other times and in other stores you get a normal return policy of 30 days or 2 weeks

Re: Monitors: M-Audio v/s KRK
BTW, look at sweetwater, MF, and other sites to see what other users(not only jemsite...although we can be pretty thorough) have to say. sweetwater doesn't carry krk, but they have m-audio. MF has both. even do a google search. you never know, a magazine may have had a shootout with them.
