New toy-the roland 2480

I finally decided to upgrade my studio and after much research decided on the roland 2480.What an awesome piece of gear! It does everything I wanted and a bit more. The effects are surprisingly good. The bonus is being able to plug in a monitor and mouse and control everything without worrying about my computer crashing. After recording and mixing our last cd on an analog board, what a delight to use a digital mixer.Just press a button and all settings are instantly recalled.I'm in heaven! Its also nice to be able to see the eq and compression graphs on screen so I can visually see how different settings affect the signal. The mastering tools are also mighty handy.I'm very impressed and more motivated than ever on this cd project.Technology is good!(except for resale on old gear).

I found mine used for 3k.After using this for awhile,I am still very impressed. Its really easy to get a great recording.I also picked up an akg condenser mic.Vocals and acoustics really sit in the mix much better(don't have to use many effects). The roland effects are pretty useful.I wish I could find a way to use my lexicon reverb.Thats my only complaint, you can't patch an external processor in and adjust amount on every track independently, you can either use the external processor on the whole mix or one stereo pair of tracks.Nevertheless I'm still impressed with this studio.
