Question

Norwegians, need help on power converting..

Hi, I'm ordering a POD Xt Live from America (I live in Norway).
Is it enough to just buy an adapter for the Xt here in Norway? Or do I need anything else?
Help is greatly appreciated!

I don't know if the unit itself is any different, I have a US Yamaha preamp and I just use a transformer...

I believe it would be enough to buy a converter to the amercan adapter

So it's not enough with an 220V adapter for it?

It depends whether the construction of a US unit and an european unit differs in any way. If it does, you'll probably need a step-down transformer, if it doesn't, a european power supply should do. If the unit can operate in both 110 and 220 modes, then you will only need the little adapter for the actual plug.

Don't use step down transformers, they wear out. The Pod XT runs on 9VAC 1300 milliamps, so just buy a line6 power supply from www.sound1.no

Stepdown transformers wear out? Rubbish! LOL!!!

The power supply you mentioned, and ALL powersupplies are stepdown transformers!

Re: Norwegians, need help on power converting..

"wearing out" was the wrong term, more like popping like flies. The cheap ones are poorly made devices which I've experience frying quite often, and other places in europe, the power companies aren't that thorough on whether the outlets supply 230V, 160V or 260V, so imagine touring with a band and using a power conditioner, and then have the thing pop in the middle of the set, with no replacements. Hooray.

And last but not least, why go complicated when you can to it simple.

Tip, If you don't want them to fry, get one that handles as much power that you can afford. That way it will run cooler.

But then they also draw much more wattage.

That's worth considering for running costs.

The European transformer only runs at Euro voltage, so safe to assume that the US one will be 110v only.
Buy a new adapter - they're cheap enough.

yeah.. you can buy a new adapter for your POD in Norway, OR buy a converter from 110v to 220v. I've tried both and it works excellent... why am I writing in english ? eheh...
