Only 1 audio track and it crackles...!

I finally got an m-audio firewire solo card up and running with vista...only thing is when i fire up cubase SX (I'm a total newb with this btw) I can get it to playback ok but even just 1 audio track crackles as if I have heaps of tracks running with lots of FX going on..
It never did this with XP

What am I doing wrong ?

sounds like a driver issue. check for current vista drivers and service pack compatibility.

Seems to be working better.....now my problem is when I connect guitar and record in Cubase i cannot hear the processed guitar sound via GuitarRig2.
It plays back fine but I cant hear it 'live', any ideas ?

You gotta enable monitoring within cubase.

Aye the wee beige button ? I know, unless there is something in the options menu I've missed that enables monitoring too..I dont know
