OOOOH! who has the WORST studio gear???!!!

Here's my entry...

-Dell Latitude CPi laptop, cira 1999.
-NeoMagic MagicMedia 256 soundcard (i think)
-6.0 gig hard drive (mostly full)
-no CD-R drive (just CD)
-3.5" floppy drive (can only be installed when i remove the CD drive, or disconnect my printer)
-64Mb RAM
-sonic foundry ACID 2.0
-Sound forge (effects, mastering)
-crappy $35 radio shack mic
-J-Station
-Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers (these are actually pretty decent- oops )
-freeware version of Fruityloops for percussion
-assorted adaptors, courtesy of radioshack

Can anyone top that? come on... make me feel better about myself.

i figure, if i can get tolerable results on this, i can get good results with anything. (if anyone's dying to find out, i've got a few tracks i can encode to mp3 and pass around)

-Drew

Whatever is electronic is AcidPro 2.0. Whatever's acoustic guitar and vocals is an Oscar Schmidt, small size, crappy acoustic with 4 year old strings, through my PC mic, into Pro Tools Free.

Actually, my main recording rig (I don't use my computer rig for anything but acoustic demos occasionally when I'm bored, and for editing stuff I recorded on my main rig). My main rig is a Tascam 424 4-track recorder, and a mic by a company I've never heard of. Sound ok, but I hate that tape noise...

Here's one --

When I was a teenager I would borrow my friend's 4-track. If I also couldn't borrow a mic from anybody, I'd use a pair of headphones and record everything (drums and vocals) through those in mono. I still have a lot of those 4-track lo-fi wonders; they have so much energy! Ironic, isn't it?

Can anobody beat that?

Mr. Orange- I'm with ya:

-Tascam Porta One
-Generic SM58-type mic.

Luckily, I've since then purchased a nice new Yamaha MD8.
