Pc Spec


Hi Dudes

I want to start my own little rec. studio at home on a pc, but im not that sure what computer specifications im goin to need. I havnt got a pc for recording yet, and my uncles going to build it for me so i can buy the components separately.

Really i was just wandering what processor speeds / hard drive type (ie udma, scsi)/ motherboard and memory im going to need, so please could you offer me some sugestions, thanks for your help.

You should have at least 1000 Mhz AMD or Pentium Processor, 256 DDR Ram, and if possible an 133 Mhz Motherboard, normal IDE Hard Disk ( at least 20GB )will do. So as u can see there's no huge reources needed to run your software studio

Try for an Intel chipset. apparently VIA chipsets can be dodgy with audio.

there are so many variables beyond the basic PC hardware/OS setup - it can be mind-boggling.

I think you need to have a "complete" picture of:

'puter hardware
OS
Audio interface
Recording Software
Any possible external hardware (mixer, digital vs. analog, etc.)

once you have all the pieces picked out, make sure it's all compatible & then go for it.

Unless you're going Digidesign, which recommends Via chipsets. The Via issue is somewhat old; there's no problems with the current stuff.
