Red face

Please educate a recording noob..

Ok, so I do have a PC running Windblows and my complete guitar rig. What I want do to is quickly come up with drum/bass/keyboard and rythm guitar tracks on the PC so I can play lead over that (kind of a backing track..) then once I'm happy, I want to record the whole thing and create MP3's. What's your advice here folks? Software/Harwdare I should get to hook up my guitar, easy and quickly made yet great sounding Midi tracks for the other instruments? Which software will provide me what I want to do? There's too much information around, I just dunno where to start.. Pleaes help! Much appreciated.

Reason or Fruity Loops for your backing tracks and if you want a fun free recorder, Audacity.

I know how you feel. I have just been through this whole process. First; start with a budget, second; pick what you want and can afford; weight up the pro's cons, third; be prepared to invest plenty of time to read all that is out there; Fourth and finally take the time to go through the previous threads because there is heaps on here that will have already answered a number your questions.......as I found out!
