pod farm, toneport ux1, vista......Help!!!

i just got a new pc...amd athlon x2 processor, 2 gb ram, 160 gb hard drive and running windows vista basic. i installed my gearbox software and noticed that about every 20-30 seconds the sound stops for a millisecond, which is a real concentration buster and makes it hard to record. i selected the smallest buffer size and it still does it in both the stand alone player and as a plug-in for my recording software.

i used line6 monkey to upgrade the drivers and such to the current update, still no help. then i saw that a pod farm version was available for download that was compatable with the toneport ux1. installed that and still the same problem.

I'm really at a loss on what to do cuz i'm kinda new to this. what can i do? any suggestions?

Buy a different PC. It probably shares the video DMA channels with the audio or some such crap.
Or you could get a mac.
Good luck.

This is the kind of post that doesn't need to be posted.

Personally, I wouldn't use Vista to record. Your best bet will be to use a slipstreamed xp install and either dual-boot in or use xp altogether.

ok guys, i talked to a computer tech and here is what he told me. go to control panel, click on programs, and choose "use an older program with this version of windows. this pulls up the program compatability wizard. manually select the program you need to "fix" but make sure you select it from your program files and not your desktop. then you just select the operating system that you used to use your program with and it creates a "patch" that allows it to work like it did on your old pc. now, my old pc ran windows xp but when I selected xp it didn't make any difference. I selected Windows server 2003 w/ service pack 1 and that allowed the program to open. I adjusted pod farm to use the smallest buffer size and voila....c'est magnifique!! I am able to use it for practice as well as recording. I hope this helps anyone else who is having the same problem.

p.s. hey jimmy, thanks for standing up for me as far as oklastars comment went. I hadn't been on since I posted the thread. I really appreciate it. Thanks again!

Glad you got it fixed. Did the Line 6 people help you with that, or did you figure it out on your own?
