Powered monitor question....

I'm buying a Fostex VF160, I would really like to get a great monitor system as well. I really like the Carvin SRS65A,,,however it only has an XLR balanced input. The Fostex does not an XLR output. Is there a way of converting the RCA outs of VF160 without sacraficing the sound quality?
There is also a SRS65 which is passive,,,, and it has a gold 5 way binding post? Does anyone know how that would hook to the VF160?

You can buy RCA to XLR cables from either hosa or Pro CO... Its not a great solution but it'll work. Keep them under well under 25 feet to avoid noise interference and avoid dulling the signal. The only other downfall is that you will have mismatch operating levels/impedance so a little volume on the Fostex will translate into a lot of volume on the speakers. If you see a "line level" switch or input on the speakers, use that to avoid this problem. For a bit more money you can get a direct box, but the cheaper ones will affect tone probably moreso thn just using a cable and dealing with the volume problems...

To use the passive ones you'll need to buy a separate power amp as well...
