Project studio

I am about to buy a house that has a 17'X12' building in the backyard. It's on a slab and has a metal roof. I want to turn it into a studio/music room. My own little harmony hut. I have a legacy and want to record it to it's fullest potential. The amp is loud so I need some kind of soundproofing, an iso box or a wall. I'm thinking of a performance room and a control room. Please give me some ideas of what I can do with it. Thanks.

That'll be a couple of small rooms once you're done with soundproofing. I'd probably leave it one room and maybe an iso booth. And that metal roof will get LOUD when it rains.

Go to www.johnlsayers.com, the man is a saint and will more likely than not draw you complete floorplans of what you need to do for a GREAT studio instead of just a good one.

There's a stray comma after the address that finds its way into the link. My browser didn't like it.

Very handy site! I've bookmarked that one. Thanks!

Well while we are on topic Darren I am not an expert by any means but would really appreciate a definitive once-off answer if anybody knows to the following question:

Take 1 drumkit, 2 guitar amps, 1 bass amp, and one vocal PA, with 2 speakers on stands.

Take a rectangular room, and acoustically foam the one end top to bottom for absorption and diffusion, but when you get a bit down the walls, break up the foam into checkerboard for a live and dead end situation.

For basic rehearsal and recording live, where do all the drums & instrument amps go?? Nobody seems to be able to help. They all just assume that you should know this.....but I am too stupid!

The picture of what I mean is available to view at http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/absorbers/siab.htm

Sorry about the comma everybody,

Jamie
