Putting MP3 files into Cubase - MAC

With our p.c's at college all you have to do to put a backing track into your cubase project is drag the file into the project and drop and its automatically added. with my mac though, whenever i drag anything from i-tunes into cubase, nothing happens?

should i be using i-tunes or should i put windows media player on it?
