Query: wav to cda

Hi guys, I've recently been doing a lot of recording via Cakewalk Pro Audio 8 and mixing down to 2 wav's (left and right) from that.

Basically what I want to do is put some of these songs to standard cda. But when trying to use Nero Burning Rom I'm unable to drag and drop the wav file to the "create cd audio" section. I can however drag an mp3 of the same song to the "create cd audio" section and have that burn and play fine on normal cd players.

I want the wav's on there though. I mean, what's the point of converting the thing twice. There's only going to be degredation in sound quality right?

The wav I'm trying to convert is a 44.1 Khz 16bit wav.

What does everyone else do?

44.1/16-bit is definately the right bitrate... Only thing i'm not sure i follow- are you mixing down to two mono waves, for each side, or a single stereo?

i've never had any trouble getting 16-bit, 44.1 stereo waves to burn to .cda

Hi! Unsure of the "bounce options" available with Cakewalk Audio 8. The *best* choice would be "stereo interleaved .wav" at 16-bit, 44.1k. This produces a file that Winamp, windows media player, etc can play. If WMP can play it, Nero should be able to burn it as cda.

If you are *bouncing* from Cakewalk to TWO mono files, they would need to be "interleaved" before Nero can burn them correctly. Many audio editors can do this, but bouncing 'em out interleaved to start with is best.

What options does Cakewalk have for bouncing?

Hi guys,

With this version of Cakewalk what I do is first mixdown the audio tracks. This gives me two mono tracks. One left channel and one right. There aren't any options (that I can find for this).

After doing this I then "Export Audio". This only gives me the option of choosing what type of file to export to (Wav, Real Media, RTSL).

I'm not sure about "bouncing". I'm very new to this stuff . Not sure what bouncing is?

The wav I get after exporting is able to be played on winamp and WMP. But for some strange reason when burning to CD it burns nothing. When viewing the disc in windows there is a track1.cda. But on trying to play it, either on a normal CD player, or in the computer (either dvd-rom or burner), nothing plays. It might be my version of nero? I'm not sure.

I'll try it again. Hopefully I don't create another coaster .

Hi! Ahhh! Onto the next question: What type of "burn" are you selecting to do with Nero? Be sure the burn is a "close session when finished burning," or something like that. If one burns a cd, and leaves the session "open," (popular for being able to burn stuff to a cd, and then burn more to same cd later) the traditional CD player wont "see" it unfortunately.

Hey there Nikki

Tried it again.
This time I burnt the MP3 version and then the WAV onto the same "audio" disc.... track1 plays fine on everything... track2 (the wav) however, is silence... track time is correct though. Yep, I always close the session ('cept for when I'm backing up stuff and haven't got enough data to fill the cd).

I think my Nero is stuffed. Not sure. It's the version that came with my burner though. (new'ish).

I shall keep trying though. Hopefully I won't end up with a full set of shiny coasters

Tried it again.... It worked!~#!@#!#!!!@!#!@!!!!

YAY!! I'm happy. Need someone to hug now!
Thankyou!!

Funny thing is I didn't really do anything different. Opened the WAV up and then saved it as something else. Didn't edit it or anything. Then it worked. But, hey, it worked! Yayness
