Recording by using Line Out

Hi folks, today i tried the cab voiced line out of my carvin amp. At first there was nothing to hear on my computer. After turning up the volume of my amp, there was a low signal, but if i play my guitar directly into the line in of my pc, the signal is much louder than the on that comes out of my amp. Is there something wrong with my amp, or must the volume be pushed up to insane volume to get a good signal from the voiced line out? If this would be the case, then i could use a micophone to record my amp and wouldnt need the line out.

I have to usually push up the volume on my amp also to get a good signal from the line-out. There should also be a line-in/mic-in setting on your computer that you can bring up also.

It might sound better mic'd too... I'd experiment and see what works best.

Re: Recording by using Line Out

same thing on my legacy,...

Volume must be up a lot to get a decent signal, Even when running it through a mixer with preamp.

NEVER RUN IT WITHOUT THE CABINET HOOKED UP !

So that's a nono for quiet(er) recording I guess
(or get a load box)

For me it works fine just turning the speakers up on my computer.

I like a decent input signal to keep the noise floor down.
